Welcome to the New Haven Free Public Library

Young Adult Services

The New Haven Free Public Library welcomes all middle and high school students to take advantage of the services designed especially for them:

  • The downtown (Main) Library has a separate Young Adult area on the first floor containing fiction and non-fiction books, magazines, comics, audio books and DVD's. Computers in this area are reserved for teens. These computers have access to the Internet. Check out important information about Internet safety and take the "Know it all? quiz at Webwise.
  • Reference assistance, homework help and readers advisory is available at the Young Adult desk weekdays after school. Call Sunnie at (203) 946-8130 ext. 234 for assistance.

Young Adult Programs

Main Library Programs:

The Brand New Book Club meets the last Tuesday of every month, Feb-June, at 4pm in the second floor program room of the Main Library. To find out what book we're currently reading, contact Sunnie, the Young Adult Librarian. We have a monthly column about our book club hosted by the New Haven Independent: Book Club blog.

Homework Help Night is every Tuesday from 6-8 pm in the Young Adult area of the Main Library. The Young Adult Librarian teams up with local tutors to help you study, finish homework assignments and generally impress your teachers!

For a full listing of Young Adult programs, go to the Library Events calendar.

Branch Library Programs:

Programs are also offered at our Branch Libraries. For a complete listing, please check out the Library Events calendar.

More information about Young Adult programs is also available through our group "YA @ the New Haven Free Public Library" on Facebook.com.
