The Consumer Health Information Network, located at the
New Haven Free Public Library, provides
medical books, databases, and
reference services to members of the public free of charge. It is a
collaborative project between the New Haven Free Public Library and the
Cushing / Whitney Medical Library, Yale University, with funding provided
by a grant from the National Network of Libraries of Medicine.
Health & Wellness Resource Center (iCONN)
Provides access to articles from journals and magazines,
drug information, an encyclopedia of medicine,
a medical dictionary
and more. Health & Wellness is available from iCONN, which can be
accessed over the Internet using any Connecticut public library card.
Medline Plus
MEDLINEplus has extensive information from the National Institutes
of Health and other trusted sources on over 500 diseases and conditions.
There are also lists of hospitals and physicians, a medical encyclopedia
and dictionaries, health information in Spanish, extensive information
on prescription and nonprescription drugs, health information from the
media, and links to thousands of clinical trials.
PubMed
PubMed allows you to easily search MEDLINE, the National Library of
Medicine's database of articles covering medicine and
nursing.
Well-Connected
A library of reports on common diseases and wellness issues. Each
report is an in-depth discussion of the latest information on
treatments, risk factors, causes, diagnostic tests, and preventive
measures.
