Department of Transportation, Traffic and Parking

Reporting Transportation, Traffic & Parking Related Issues On-Line

In order to effectively and efficently handle issues that occur within the City of New Haven, the department utilizes various methods and tools to handle issues as they arise. One of these tools is through the use of an on-line reporting system called See Click Fix. It's the department's responsibility to maintain traffic signs, bus shelters, traffic signals, parking meters and pavement markings, as well as other city assets. We rely on our division crews for maintaining, installing and repairing these assets but we also appreciate it when you, the citizen, report issues that concern you, as it allows us to maintain a vibrant and safe working and living environment for everyone to enjoy.

By clicking on the See Click Fix link, you have the ability to proactively engage with the department and assist us in maintaining and a healthy and safe working and living environnment. Thank you!

Parking meter hours extended to 9 p.m., enforcement to begin may 29

Transportation, Traffic & Parking Department workers have begun adjusting parking signs to reflect the extension of meter hours to 9 p.m. In addition, after 5 p.m. meter time limits (15 min, 30 min, 1 hr, etc) will not be enforced. Both of these measures will accommodate the need for longer term parking during the evening hours. Customers will now have the flexibility to pay for extended parking time as needed. The City will begin enforcing the new extended meter hours on Tuesday, May 29.

STREET CLEANING SEASON BEGINS APRIL 3, 2012

Just a reminder, as per our permanent metal signs the street sweeping season has begun. Paper no parking signs are now being posted on an as needed basis for street sweeping. The street sweeping routes will be posted by Public Works the day before they are scheduled to be cleaned. Be sure to check your street daily for postings.

    PARKING AND SNOW

As the surprise snow storm before Halloween reminds us, local weather is often not easily predicted.  One thing residents can do to stay informed of when the Mayor declares a snow emergency is to “opt-in” to our emergency notification system.  Our Emergency Operations Center will then have a recorded announcement call a telephone number of your choice when there is a parking ban or other emergency notification.  To “opt-in” to the system, please click here http://www.cityofnewhaven.com/EmergencyInfo/optin.asp. CREDIT CARD ACCEPTING PARKING METERS

A New Single Space Parking Meter that accepts coins and credit cards is being rolled out in central downtown beginning November 1, 2011.  The New Credit Card accepting parking meters are being installed in the area bordered by Park St, Elm St, Orange St, and Crown St; as well as Broadway and Union Avenue.  In addition, Parking Pay Stations have been installed on Prospect Street between Sachem and Edwards.  For more information CLICK HERE
