Reporting Transportation, Traffic & Parking Related Issues On-Line
In order to effectively and efficently handle issues that occur within the City of New Haven, the department utilizes various methods and tools to handle issues as they arise. One of these tools is through the use of an on-line reporting system called See Click Fix. It's the department's responsibility to maintain traffic signs, bus shelters, traffic signals, parking meters and pavement markings, as well as other city assets. We rely on our division crews for maintaining, installing and repairing these assets but we also appreciate it when you, the citizen, report issues that concern you, as it allows us to maintain a vibrant and safe working and living environment for everyone to enjoy.

FREE PARKING AVAILABLE IN DOWNTOWN NEW HAVEN ON SATURDAYS IN DECEMBER
Where's the free parking you ask??? Well it just so happens that as a special holiday treat to people who are choosing to shop, dine and celebrate in Downtown this holiday season, Town Green and the City of New Haven’s Department of Transportation, Traffic, and Parking are offering 2 hours of free on-street parking in select shopping areas every Saturday in December.
Here's how it works: Each week, parking meters in selected areas will be covered with Town Green meter bags between 8am and 9pm. We will be giving 2 hours free parking regarding of the time limits normally imposed on the street; however, we will enforce parking regulations for any parking beyond the 2 hour limit. Handicapped meters will not be covered, but parking enforcement officers will honor the holiday parking reprieve on the selected streets. Dates and locations are as follows:
- December 1: Chapel Street from Temple Street to York Street
- December 8: Elm Street from Church Street to State Street; Chapel Street from Orange Street to State Street; Orange Street from Chapel Street to George Street.
- December 15: Whitney Avenue from Wall Street to Trumbull Street
- December 21: Chapel Street from York Street to Howe Street
- December 28: We spread the love throughout Downtown by bagging one block of meters per shopping district.
The shops at Yale are also providing free parking on weekends for up to six hours to shoppers who park in the Broadway Center Lot and present a same-day receipt of $15 or more for either shopping or dining from one of the shops at Yale. After six hours the $35 penalty rate will continue to apply and the parker will be responsible for paying it.
The Dates for the Broadway lot promotion are:
- December 1 & 2
- December 8 & 9
- December 15 & 16
- December 22 & 23

LEAF CLEANING BEGINS November 1ST.
Our Department of Public Works will be posting select areas for special leaf cleaning pick-up. These areas can't be predetermined because it depends on when the leaves fall from the trees. In you park on the street in any of our neighborhoods, please check for the special paper posted street sweeping signs to avoid being ticketed and towed.
REMINDER: ALL PARKING METERS CITYWIDE ARE IN EFFECT UNTIL 9:00P
All parking meters are in effect until 9:00pm Monday through Saturday. However, after 5:00pm, there are no time limits associated with any meter. That means after 5:00pm, you can pay all the way up until 9:00PM. In the city center, our new meters also accept Credit Cards. Please check each meter for time and rate.
