Elm City Green and Healthy Homes Initiative

Do you want to make your home healthier and more efficient? There are many different incentive programs that can help you reach this goal, but it is often time-consuming and confusing to find all the different organizations offering help. The Elm City Green and Healthy Homes Initiative (GHHI) pulls together local programs into a single convenient sign-up to get you closer to your goal of a green and healthy home.

We are still developing the initiative, but in the meantime we'd like to offer you a preview of some of our programs. Sign up for a free energy audit (typically $75) and free street tree for in front of your home!

    FAQ

Home Energy Solutions - Free Home Energy Audit

In partnership with the CT Energy Efficiency Fund and the United Illuminating Company, we are happy to offer free home energy audits to New Haven residents through the Home Energy Solutions (HES) program. Ordinarily, HES has a $75 co-pay, but as part of the Elm City Green and Healthy Homes Initiative this co-pay has been waived for New Haven residents. Typical energy savings from an HES audit is $500 over the first two years.

Green Jobs For New Haven Residents

At least 25% of the energy auditors performing Home Energy Solutions energy audits as part of the Elm City Green and Healthy Homes Initiative are New Haven residents, consistent with the City's goals of promoting workforce development and green jobs.

Note: Please sign up NOW! The program is available on a first-come, first-served basis as funds are available.

As part of the City's Green and Healthy Homes Initiative, the YCCF is offering free programmable thermostats for low-income residents who qualify under the low-income guidelines for the Energy Assessment.

Programmable thermostats can save 15% of your heating and cooling costs.
