Our city is increasingly a model for a sustainable, vibrant and livable city. New Haven residents collaborate on issues affecting the environment because it means we are investing in the future of our city. Green New Haven addresses important issues such as climate change and sustainable development as we strive to conserve energy, encourage efficient mixed-use development, adopt energy efficient technologies and promote sustainable transportation systems. From City Hall to our Public Schools, we've been at the forefront of developing and instituting green policies that ultimately save energy and translate to cost savings for our households. Additionally, greening New Haven means supporting tree planting, organic landscaping and recycling programs, all of which result in healthy communities here in our city.
