Tips Hotline - Case 7: Elizabeth Rhinehart Murder Investigation

The body of Elizabeth Rhinehart (Date-of-Birth: 8-21-61), a local resident, was discovered in a dried-up creek bed on Sunday, August 22, 1993 at approximately 2:00 p.m.  The body was found lying under a wooden foot bridge.  It was determined by the Medical Examiner that Ms. Rhinehart had died of strangulation.  Investigators have been continually working on the case but have not been able to develop useful evidence or leads in the case.

Upon the request of New Haven State's Attorney Michael Dearington, then-Governor Lowell P. Weicker, in December of 1993, authorized a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the murder of Elizabeth Rhinehart.

We urge anyone with information concerning the murder of Elizabeth Rhinehart to contact New Haven Police and call the New Haven Police TIPS Hotline, 1-866-888-TIPS.

The person or persons who provides police with the information that results in an arrest and conviction in the case will receive the $10,000 reward. All calls will be kept confidential.
