Tips Hotline - Case 3: Suspicious Disappearance of Jerry Dolphin

Jerry Dolphin (Date-of-Birth: 8-21-74) was last seen or heard from by his family in mid-October of 1994.At the time of his disappearance, Dolphin was 20 years old.His family subsequently filed a missing person report with New Haven Police.Because Dolphin always had weekly contact with his family members and friends and never left the New Haven area unless accompanied by his family, it is believed that at the time of his disappearance, he was in grave threat of bodily harm and subsequently was killed. Police have developed information that Dolphin was the victim of foul play. They believe there are individuals who know what happened or can corroborate information police have about the case to help identify those responsible for the crime.

Investigators have been continually working on the case but have not developed a case solid enough to obtain an arrest. However, police believe that Dolphin's disappearance was unlawfully caused. Upon the request of New Haven State's Attorney Michael Dearington, in 1998, Governor John G. Rowland authorized a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the suspicious disappearance of Jerry Dolphin.

In April of 1998, investigators together with the parents of Jerry Dolphin, asked for the public's help to provide information to the police that will assist in solving their son's case. They hope that the offer of the reward will prompt people to come forward. Dolphin's parents are looking for a sense of closure as well as bringing the person or persons responsible for the crime to justice.Dolphin's parents emphasized the importance of the public's help to piece together the circumstances of Jerry Dolphin's disappearance. Flyers with the missing man's photo and pertinent information were distributed to the media as well as disseminated by police in neighborhoods.

We urge anyone with information concerning the disappearance of Jerry Dolphin to contact New Haven Police and call the New Haven Police TIPS hotline at 1-866-888-TIPS.The person(s) who provides police with the information that results in an arrest and conviction in the case will receive the $50,000 reward. All calls will be kept confidential.
