Website Committee Information

The New Haven Department of Police Service Website is a constant work in progress. It has been developed to provide the public with information about the department and its policing philosophy, including programs, services, police districts, crime statistics and other items of interest. It is designed to be user friendly and provide another vehicle for citizens to have better access to police and police-related matters. As a leader in community policing the site also allows the department the opportunity to share information about the New Haven experience.

In 1999, a department website was commissioned by Chief Melvin H. Wearing. In April of 2000, he formed a Website Committee specifically to reconstruct the site. He envisioned a new look and expanding the original site to include more information.

The Website Committee consists of sworn and non-sworn department personnel. They are responsible for the review of all the information contained within the website. Once text is reviewed by the Website Committee it is submitted to the Chief of Police for final approval of online content.

Suggestions and comments concerning the website are welcome and should be directed to the New Haven Department of Police Service Website Committee in care of the Chief of Police.
