Community Awards

The Community Awards page of On the Beat includes a list of Department members who have been honored for their work by receiving awards from outside community organizations, societies, or government agencies. (Award recipients in 2002). New Haven Board of Alderman Citations: 3/05/02 - Lieutenant Everett Nichols 2/19/02 - Lieutenant John Minardi 2/19/02 - Chief Melvin H. Wearing 2/07/02 - Lieutenant Raymond Hassett 2/04/02 - Officer James Carter Other Awards: Detective Joseph Greene. On 5/4/02, Detective Joseph Greene, a police department member who is assigned to the FBI Fugitive Task Force, was presented a community award by the North Haven Association of Black Citizens (NHABC). Each year, the NHABC recognizes and honors area individuals who have distinguished themselves through community service. Detective Greene received his award for his work with the Bethel AME Church to provide a mentorship/diversion program for city youth.
