 Edgewood Skate Park

The Edgewood Skate Park provides an opportunity for skateboarders and inline skating enthusiasts to develop their skills and enjoy their sport in a safe and challenging environment.

Safety Notice

Both experienced and inexperienced skateboarders and skaters use this facility. Skate
parks have inherent risks and hazards that may result in serious injury. The City of New Haven does not assume responsibility for any injuries

Skate ParkRisk Management

Although numerous risks can be identified in the development of a Skate Park, they usually can be categorized into two basic areas:

  1. The exposure presented by a participant using a skate park element
  2. The skill level of the participants

Required safety equipment includes:

  • Helmet
  • Knee Pads
  • Wrist Pads
  • Elbow Pads

Bicycles are prohibited from the skate park
No alcohol or smoking

Safety Guidelines

Accordingly, to reduce the risk exposure, the following guidelines have been established:

  • The facility is fenced, thereby controlling accessibility
  • The Skate Park Area is supervised
  • Elements are structurally sound and meet all applicable codes
  • A maintenance program is established and followed
  • All participants (or, if a minor, their guardian) are required to a waiver of liability/hold harmless agreement in favor of the City of New
  • All skaters are required to wear appropriate safety equipment, which includes, not limited to, helmet, knee, elbow and wrist pads.
  • Signs listing the Skate Area and regulations are posted in the rink and skating pavilion
  • All skate park elements, where possible, are secured when the skate area is closed.

Rules and Regulations

  • Skate at your own risk. All users assume all risk of injury. The City of New Haven or its agents are not responsible for any injuries of any type
  • All participants must wear helmets, knee, wrist and elbow pads
  • All participants must enter and exit at the designated area
  • Only one person per skateboard
  • Only one person per ramp Skateboarder/rollerblader must be under control at all times
  • No bicycles permitted in facility
  • No food or beverage is allowed in the skating area
  • Alcohol and smoking are strictly prohibited
  • Use trash containers for all litter
  • Use elements at your ability level
  • Parks Department reserves the right to prohibit persons from skate area

Hours of Operation

The skate park season lasts from April 1 to October 31 (weather permitting)

Weekdays: Summer Hours
Session One 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm
Session Two 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm
Weekdays: School Year Hours
Session One 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm
Weekends: Saturday
Session One 10:00 am to 12:30 pm
Session Two 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm
Session Three 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm
Weekends: Sunday
Session One 11:00 am to 2:00 pm
Session Two 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm

The fee for the skateboard is $3.00 per session
