Health in Your Hands: A Community Wellness Program for Hill & Fair Haven Neighborhoods
Health In Your Hands (HIYH)” is a community wellness program for children of all ages and their families in Hill and Fair Haven neighborhoods of New Haven. The program is brought to participants completely free of cost by City of New Haven under the leadership of Mayor Toni Harp and funded by grant from United States Conference of Mayors and American Beverage Association (ABA). The goal of this program is to address the issue of childhood obesity and promote an overall health and wellness in these two neighborhoods. This program encourages eating healthy and engaging in an active lifestyle. Through this program participants can take part (free of cost) in cooking classes that will teach healthy recipes, dance/exercise classes, community festivals – with free food, fun and lots more!
