Happy New Year! As we bid 2007 farewell, we look forward to a prosperous and productive 2008. This year we launched the Elm City Resident Card program making sure to recognize all residents of our City, aiming for a more united community. We were successful in establishing the Street Outreach Workers program with our partners at the New Haven Family Alliance. We continued to work diligently on our $1.5 billion Citywide School Construction Program opening new schools and welcoming our students to 21st century laboratories for learning and much more. We have a great deal to be proud of and still great things to accomplish in the new year. Working together as one united New Haven, there’s no doubt that we can make great strides.
On Tuesday at 12 noon please join the Board of Aldermen, the City Clerk and me as we celebrate inauguration day. We will be sworn in at a traditional ceremony at the Beecher School located at 100 Jewell Street. This is a public event that I hope you will attend.
Next Tuesday, January 8th, we will be promoting new Captains and Lieutenants within the New Haven Police Department. Please join us for the swearing-in ceremony at 4:30 p.m. in the first floor atrium of City Hall. This is the first time since 2000 that we promote members of our department to these two ranks. The media is encouraged to attend.
I hope you have a healthy and happy week!
Very truly yours,
John DeStefano, Jr.
