    Office Of The Mayor
    Dear Friends

While no tangible threats have been received in New Haven, when events such as the bombing that took place in Boston occur, we are all on heightened alert. Residents should know that the New Haven Police Department has been coordinating efforts with its law enforcement partners including the Yale University Police Department, the Metropolitan Transit Authority Police Department, the Amtrak Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The NHPD and its partner agencies will continue to assess the need for heightened Police presence, based largely on highly attended special events.

The NHPD is asking that people to remain observant as they go about their normal activities. If you do see something suspicious, you are urged to call the NHPD at 203-946-6316.

Next week is Restaurant Week in New Haven—with Discounted Parking in Honor of New Haven’s upcoming 375th Anniversary!

This spring's Restaurant Week will run from Sunday, April 21st through Friday, April 26th. Participating restaurants will offer a three course, prix fixe menu consisting of an appetizer, entrée and dessert. Prix fixe menus are priced at $18 for lunch and $32 for dinner.

From 4pm-12 midnight during all of Restaurant Week, you can park for only $3.75 at the Temple Street Garage and at the Crown Street Garage.

Here are a few tips to ensure you have the best possible experience during Restaurant Week:

•Make reservations as early as possible as restaurants are sure to book fast.

    • Try a new night—if you cannot secure a Friday reservation, try a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday night. It’s a nice way to break up the work week!

    • Don’t forget about lunch! If you are set on dining at particular restaurant but cannot get a dinner reservation, don’t be discouraged—try lunch instead!
