    Office Of The Mayor
    Dear Friends:

This weekend marked the beginning of this year’s Pilot Pen Tennis Tournament. Throughout this week, New Haven will be home to world’s best tennis action. If you haven’t already purchased tickets to attend, please visit www.infonewhaven.com for the details you need to be part of the excitement!

    Motor Vehicle Tax Collection

The office of the tax collector will be open from 9am until 5pm Monday-Friday to accept payments on past-due personal property taxes. Teams of tow trucks and State Marshals are seizing vehicles with outstanding tax bills daily. If you have a delinquent bill, to avoid having your vehicle towed, make sure to make a payment at the office of the tax collector or online at: www.officialpayments.com. When using the online option, please refer to jurisdiction # 1729. If your vehicle is towed on a Friday evening or Saturday morning, you can settle your account at the Police Department located at 1 Union Avenue between the hours of 9am and 1pm Saturdays. Please be prepared to pay your outstanding bill and any past-due tickets or fines.

    ATM in City Hall

The office of the tax collector now houses an automated teller machine (ATM). If you need cash quickly please feel free to visit the City Hall ATM between the hours of 9am and 5pm.

The first day of school for New Haven Public School students is only 2 weeks away! Schools in the City open on September 5th for grades 1-12. Meanwhile, Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten students will enjoy their first day of school on September 6th. Mark your calendars now: the first Elementary School open house will take place on Wednesday, September 19th while the first High School open house will take place on Wednesday, September 26.

Street Outreach Workers Complete First Month of Service

As we introduced a month ago this week, the Street Outreach Workers is a group of New Haven men and women with experience on the City’s streets who have been trained to help at-risk young people select new and positive paths in their lives. The outreach workers have been in our neighborhoods for a month now and report success in their initial efforts to reach troubled youth.

I hope you have a happy and healthy week!

    Very truly yours,

    John DeStefano, Jr.

    Mayor
