This is national men’s health week. Many diseases and illnesses are preventable by simply receiving annual physical exams. This week I encourage everyone to take some time to think about your personal health, make that appointment that you’ve been procrastinating to schedule or visit a clinic to access the services you need. For more information on health services available in New Haven please contact our health department at (203) 946-6999.
New Haven Youth Soccer
I’d like to congratulate New Haven Youth Soccer on a terrific season. Despite not winning this past Saturday’s game in the State semi-finals, they have qualified to participate in the National State Games in Colorado this August. This team has worked diligently winning four state championships in the last five years. I wish them the best in August tournament.
“In Touch with Mayor DeStefano”
I invite you all to tune in to my TV show this week on C-TV. I’ll be airing live at 7pm on Wednesday. Please check your local listings for the appropriate C-TV channel. On this week’s show we’ll discuss the Elm City Resident Identification Cards. I’ll have a guest in who’ll discuss the benefits of this program to our city and another who has strongly opposed this program. You’ll have the opportunity to call in to the show and pose your own questions. Don’t miss this edition of “In Touch with Mayor DeStefano.”
Urban Pathfinder Award
Today I was pleased to accept an award on behalf of the City from the Brookings Institute. This honor, the Urban Pathfinder Award, recognizes the City’s excellence in capturing market potential and community investment. New Haven was one of 19 entities and 7 seven cities who received this recognition this year. New Haven was selected for this honor for its ability to successfully fuel economic development in an urban setting and for creating the right environment for businesses to develop. We are thankful for this recognition! I congratulate our Economic Development Administration and our community and business partners for working together for the continuous development of our City.
