    Office Of The Mayor
    8/29/11, 8:00pm update

Storm cleanup is underway in full force and more than 200 personnel have been assigned to the cleanup effort clearing city streets and removing debris.

Public safety staffing continues to be augmented and is focused on areas without power.

Refuse collection will resume tomorrow on a holiday schedule with collection 1 day behind. Monday routes will be collected tomorrow, Tuesday. Tuesday routes will be collected Wednesday and so on.

Regarding power restoration, United Illuminating is first making safe locations people might come in contact with live power lines and concurrently working on power restoration especially those repairs that restore power to at risk populations and to areas with the largest number of households.

We have not yet been provided by UI an estimated time of full power restoration

Again, I want to thank new haven residents for their patience, understanding cooperation throughout the hurricane and the cleanup effort.

I also want to acknowledge city staff that has worked incredibly hard throughout the storm and cleanup effort

If you have any Irene cleanup related questions please call the Emergency Operations Center at 203 946-8221
