    An important part of School Change, Parent University offers free workshops and seminars for parents of New Haven Public School students on a variety of topics that are helpful for parents and beneficial in helping parents support their children.

    The next session of Parent University will be held from 8:30am-2:30pmon Saturday, November 2nd at Gateway Community college.

    All workshops are free and will provide breakfast and lunch and free childcare. To register for any of the workshops below, please visit www.punh.org or call (203) 497-7055 (English) OR (203) 497-7051 (Spanish).

    I encourage all parents to check out a session of Parent University—and bring a friend!

    Help Navigating the new Affordable Healthcare Law

    With the implementation of the federal healthcare law, many people have questions. The City of New Haven has been designated an official “Navigator” by the State of Connecticut and can assist residents in learning about what the new law will mean for individuals and families.

    Weekly “Healthy Chats” are held from 4-5 pm. At these informational sessions, the City’s Director of Health, Dr. Mario Garcia, will present basic information, answers to questions and helpful resources for assistance with enrollment.

    *Fair Haven Branch, 182 Grand Ave., 1st Thurs. of the month

    *Mitchell Branch, 37 Harrison St, 2nd Thurs. of the month

    *Wilson Branch, 303 Washington Ave, 3rd Thurs. of the month

    *Stetson Branch, 200 Dixwell Ave, 4th Wed. of the month
