The first installments of Real Estate, Personal Property and Special Services District Tax and the total Motor Vehicle Tax on the Grand List of October 1, 2009 came due on July 1, 2010 and are payable during the month of July, 2010. Taxpayers who have not received a bill should contact the Tax Office at 203-946-8054 for a duplicate bill, since failure to receive a bill does not invalidate the tax and respective penalties should the account become delinquent. Unpaid taxes will be considered delinquent as of August 3, 2010. On that date, interest will be charged from the original date of July 1, 2010. Interest is charged at a rate of 18% per year in accordance with the provisions of CGS Section 12-146. Extended Hours at the Office of the Tax Collector are 8a.m. to 6 p.m. on the following dates: Thursday, July 22nd through Monday, August 2nd, including Saturday July 24th and July 31st from 9:00 a.m. to 1 p.m. Church Street between Chapel Street and Elm Street has been reclassified as a "tow free" zone, from now until end of day August 2, 2010 in order that the tax payers of the City of New Haven can come into City Hall to pay their taxes/parking tags without the fear of being towed for any delinquencies.
Tax payments may be mailed to: Collector of Taxes, P. O. Box 1927, New Haven, CT 06509-1927.
If you would like to receive electronic notifications from the Office of the Tax Collector about when tax bills are mailed, how to receive a duplicate bill and when bills are due, please click here, select “My New Haven” then click on “Message Center.” Once you register your email address, you will have the option to select which newsletters from the City you’d like to receive.
