    Office Of The Mayor
    Dear Friends:

This is an exciting week in New Haven as we prepare for our annual 4th of July celebration! This celebration is just one more New Haven tradition that brings together families throughout the City. With so many great cultural, artistic and culinary experiences available in our City, there’s no doubt that in fact, it all happens here! Events like this represent New Haven as the cultural capital of the region and we’re excited to welcome visitors to join us. I'm thrilled that our sponsors are supporting this great event. I look forward to another incredible show.

    4th of July Festivities

Celebrate New Haven Fourth at Long Wharf Park is a free event for the entire family. WYBC 94.3 FM will be on site providing music and giveaways. A dazzling PYRO-FX Fireworks production choreographed to patriotic music will start at approximately 9:15pm. An assortment of food will be available from New Haven food vendors, and everyone is encouraged to come early to picnic and enjoy the harbor. I-95 Northbound Exit #46 will close at 5pm due to the activities and detours will be provided. Free parking has been designated for the event at Gateway Community College, Regional Water Authority, New Haven Register and Sports Haven along Sargent Drive. In case of rain, the fireworks will be rescheduled for Saturday, July 5, 2007 at 9:15pm.

Town Green Special Services District Celebrates 10 Years!

On Tuesday evening, I look forward to participating in the 10th Year Anniversary celebration for Town Green Special Services at the Omni Hotel. Town Green, along with their Clean Team and Downtown Ambassadors, has done so much for Downtown in the last 10 years. We are proud of their accomplishments and look forward to many more years of a terrific partnership!

The Department of Public Works announces that there will be a one day delay in trash collection on Independence Day, (July 4). Collection will resume on Saturday. Citizens may call the DPW Citizen Response Unit at 946-7700 for any questions or concerns.

Here’s what’s happening with New Haven Public Libraries this week:
