Dear Friends and Neighbors,
Now that we’re back on Daylight Savings Time we can begin to hope in earnest for the longer days and warmer weather of spring. I’m sure I join many of you in eager anticipation of blossoming flowers, budding trees, and the chance to put winter behind us for another year.
One reason I look forward to spring is the Neighborhood Beautification Project the city launched through its Department of Parks, Recreation, and Trees and Department of Public Works. Nearly a dozen other groups have volunteered to help residents and businesses ‘spruce up’ their neighborhoods for spring.
A series of beautification classes will be offered as part of the project; they will be held each Monday at 6:00 p.m. at the Fhree Nathiji Temple at 70 Pond Lilly Avenue. A citywide Neighborhood Cleanup Day is also scheduled for Saturday, April 5. Supplies will be provided for classes and for the April 5 event.
One goal of my administration is to engage residents and community groups so we work together toward a cleaner and safer New Haven. This Neighborhood Beautification Project is meant to be part of that.
