    New Events Calendar Introduced

I hope you had a pleasant Fourth of July weekend. Summer is now in full swing across the Elm City, and I invite you to explore everything our great city has to offer. To highlight many of the events and activities available in New Haven, a new calendar has launched on the INFO New Haven website; this tool—developed by the city's Department of Arts, Culture, and Tourism, in conjunction with Town Green Special Services District and INFO New Haven—serves as a powerful and intuitive resource for all visitors and residents to discover year-round events, performances, exhibits, and "happenings" in our City and Region.

The calendar includes a diverse schedule of events that will take place this weekend. Three Taste of New Haven food tours will comb the city this Saturday—in Canal Quarter, the Theater District, and Wooster Square—allowing residents to sample many of the landmark restaurants that recently earned New Haven its No. 1 Foodie City in America award from livability.com . On Sunday, St. Michael’s Church celebrates its 125th anniversary with an a cappella concert from Silk’n Sounds, an all-female chorus from New Haven. Further information on these events and others can be found on INFO New Haven website.

The World Cup soccer tournament will conclude this Sunday, July 13. This year’s competition has captivated fans in towns across the country. New Haven is no exception: Pitkin Plaza in Downtown has been transformed into World Cup Village, the first of its kind in the Elm City, with thousands of fans in attendance since the tournament began last month. A joint project of the Town Green Special Services and O’Toole’s Irish Pub & Restaurant, the World Cup Village has attracted visitors from across the state. Its success represents the rich diversity of New Haven, whose fans have come together to watch 32 different countries compete for supremacy.

I hope you have a great week.
