    Office Of The Mayor

(1/16/2014) New Haven – Mayor Toni N. Harp joined officials from New Haven and Yale University, as well as members of the City’s business community, for a ribbon cutting at the grand opening of L'Occitane en Provence, a boutique located in the Chapel Street Historic District.

At a ribbon cutting held Thursday, January 16th, at noon, Mayor Harp said “This store is not only an important and welcomed addition to the Chapel Street area and The Shops at Yale, but it is also another example of the wonderful places that New Haven has to offer to visitors and residents alike.”

Lauren Zucker, Yale University associate vice president of New Haven Affairs and University Properties, also attended the event. “New Haven represents a new market for L’Occitane and we are thrilled to have them join all of our other fine retailers and restaurants,” Zucker said.

Along with city and university officials attending the grand opening were several people from the City’s business community. Teresa Gefter, vice president of L’Occitane stores, said “we are thrilled to be part of the New Haven and Yale community.”

“Everybody has been so warm and welcoming and supportive of our business since we’ve been here…we also want to thank [Yale] University Properties…and obviously to Mayor Harp for doing us the honors of cutting our grand opening ribbon,” Gefter added.

Vicente Siguenza acquired a property down the block at the location formerly known as Scoozzi Trattoria and Wine Bar to open another restaurant, and his first in New Haven, known as Harvest Wine Bar and Restaurant. Siguenza said “New Haven is a great city…this place became available and we are really happy and excited to…move into it.”
