NEW HAVEN ANNOUNCES NEW DIRECTOR FOR LIVABLE CITY INITIATIVE
(1/5/2010) NEW HAVEN— In a communication to the New Haven Board of Aldermen, Economic Development Administrator Kelly Murphy announced, Monday, the appointment of Erik Johnson as the new Executive Director of the Livable City Initiative (LCI). Johnson will begin in his new position on February 1, 2010.
“Erik brings with him strong technical skills and a substantial amount of housing experience,” said Murphy. “He will be a valuable addition to LCI and to the City.”
Johnson comes to New Haven from the Washington D.C. area where he has spent the last year working as a project manager for the William C. Smith + Co., a multidisciplinary real estate firm. As project manager, Johnson worked on several large residential and mixed use projects in the District.
Prior to his employment at William C. Smith + Co., Johnson spent five and a half years as a project manager in the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning & Economic Development in the Government of the District of Columbia where he focused on housing issues and projects. Johnson holds a Bachelors of Art degree in Political Science and Sociology from Trinity College and a Masters of Regional Planning from Morgan State University. Erik is originally from New Haven.
