TRACK180, A NEW HAVEN TECH START-UP, RECIVES A PATENT THAT WILL ALLOW TREMENDOUS GROWTH OF THEIR BUSINESS

    (10/31/2013)

(New Haven, CT) Today, Mayor John DeStefano, Jr. joined Drue Hontz, Founder and CEO of Track180, a New Haven tech start-up, to announce that his company has been granted a U.S. patent which will allow their business to grow tremendously.

Track180’s unique solution delivers better-organized content, improves navigation, and creates a new way to interact with large amounts of information. Their patent creates opportunities for more efficient content management and innovative user interfaces for both mobile devices and the next-generation web.

Track180’s platform is distinguished for its ability to explore subjects from multiple perspectives, see their development over time and navigate complex relationships.

The patent is applicable to both enterprise solutions and consumer products, and has uses across a wide variety of market segments, including: healthcare, legal, sports, media, and politics.

“Track180 worked long and hard on the methodology for which they received a patent. This company is an excellent example of the new economy New Haven is developing: the manufacturing and commercialization of ideas,” noted Mayor DeStefano.

“My goal was to make it easier for people to better understand the huge amounts of information that we now have access to through the web,” said CEO and Founder Drue Hontz.

Their first product is their iPad app that showcases their unique method of mapping complex relationships and presents information in a stunning graphic display. The app creates an innovative story telling experience bringing the user on a journey into the issues that are being presented.

The Track180 iPad app which is available for free in the Apple App store was reviewed by the tech site Mashable: “...users get rich multimedia content, multiple sources and perspectives, and a “ripple effect” tool that lets readers explore a given story’s impact across topics.”

AppStorm rated it a 10/10 and called it “both beautiful and highly functional.”

In the few months since Track180 has received the patent, they have been working to apply their methodology to various other applications.

Kontz explained, “The issuance of the patent now enables us to focus our business on both consumer and business to business products. We are very excited to be part of the digital media growth here in New Haven.”
