(1/8/2014) Get Covered! Everybody needs quality health care coverage. Quality health care coverage is now within reach for most everyone!

Having you been living without having access to health care coverage? Did you know that you can no longer be denied health care coverage because you have a pre-existing health condition? Starting in 2014, all Americans will be required to have health insurance. You may be eligible for free or reduced coverage through Access Health Connecticut. Access Health Connecticut offers high quality health care coverage including insurance coverage from name-brand companies, for those with pre-existing health conditions, and benefits that meet Connecticutís standards for benefits.

The City of New Haven Health Department in conjunction with Access Health Connecticut is offering free enrollment assistance at the Hill Health Center, Columbus Avenue, New Haven on January 11, 2014 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for those interested in enrolling to receive quality health care coverage. This service is free meaning there is absolutely no cost to you!

We know that plans can be confusing. So, our Assisters are here to help you complete the online application for coverage. So while, the choice of plans is yours only, we can help you to understand some of the terms that come up when making a choice about health care coverage needs. We can explain deductibles, co-pays vs. coinsurance, and even restrictions. We know that it is hard to understand and compare.

We encourage New Haven, West Haven and other surrounding town residents to take advantage of the opportunity to obtain assistance at no cost through the New Haven Health Department by calling 203.946.2227 or emailing navigator@newhavenct.net or by writing ACA, @NHHD, 54 Meadow Street, New Haven, CT 06511. Or you can attend one of many enrollment events scheduled across New Haven county. The enclosed flyer announces the upcoming enrollment events as noted above. In addition, by appointment each Friday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., New Haven Health Department staff will be ready to enroll you and your family. For more information, please call 203.946.2227.

Please do not miss these opportunities for free assistance, those Americans not enrolling may be subject to a penalty under the Affordable Care Actís individual mandate provision.
