    Office Of The Mayor

(New Haven)— Mayor John DeStefano, Jr. was joined by Jeffery Zeitlin, Sales Manager, IKEA New Haven and Kevin Burke, Regional VP Greater NY and CT, Wells Fargo Commercial Banking to announce that the annual tradition of Fourth of July Fireworks will continue from the summit of East Rock Park. IKEA New Haven and Wells Fargo Bank have generously donated to make this event possible.

“The fireworks in New Haven are a time honored tradition and opportunity for the community to come together to celebrate the birth of our nation,” said Mayor DeStefano. “I want to thank IKEA New Haven and Wells Fargo bank for their generous donations and their commitment to the City of New Haven and our community.”

"IKEA New Haven is pleased to be a presenting sponsor of the July 4th Fireworks. When we entered into a 3-year partnership with the city back in 2009 to sponsor the Fireworks it was a way for us to give back to a community that has been so welcoming since we opened seven years ago,” said Jeffery Zeitlin, Sales Manager, IKEA New Haven. “At a time when many are staying close to home for the July 4th holidays we are grateful to be able to be a part of maintaining one of New Haven's long-standing traditions that the whole family can enjoy!"

The fireworks will be coordinated by Phil Gauvin of Pyro FX at the top of East Rock. The Fire Department, Parks & Recreation Department and Pyro FX will work together to secure a safe, suitable launch site on East Rock.

"Wells Fargo is proud to support the City of New Haven's annual fireworks celebration," said Kevin Burke,Regional Vice President Commercial Banking for Greater New York and Connecticut. "This long standing New Haven tradition is enjoyed by thousands of families throughout the region, and we are pleased to be part of an event that creates such civic pride and connectivity. Wells Fargo is committed to supporting the communities it serves," he said, "so partnering with organizations like this as well as the Promise Partnership, Shubert Theater and the New Haven Chamber's Small Business Assistance Center helps us achieve that goal."
