NEW HAVEN ENCOURAGES RESIDENTS TO OPT-IN TO NOTIFICATION SYSTEM TO RECEIVE CALLS CONCERNING PARKING BANS, SERVICE CHANGES & EMERGENCIES
(12/22/2008) NEW HAVEN- During this weekends snow storms, the City of New Haven reached 29,000 households by phone using its 3N Emergency Notification System to warn residents of parking bans. The system showed that more than 70 percent of the households that received calls actually answered the phone and heard most if not all of the pre-recorded message. As the system currently stands, all land-line phone numbers currently listed in the White Pages in New Haven participate in the program and receive phone calls during weather and other emergencies that make residents aware of bans, changes to services and other important information. However, residents whose phone numbers are unlisted and those who have chosen to place their phone numbers on the national Do Not Call List, do not receive these calls.
Residents are all strongly encouraged to opt-in and add their phone numbers to the City’s notification system so that they do not miss-out urgent information. Residents can opt-in by visiting: http://www.cityofnewhaven.com/EmergencyInfo/optin.asp
For announcements regarding snow bans, cancellations and other weather-related emergencies including off-street parking alternatives during parking bans, residents can also visit the City's web site at www.cityofnewhaven.com or call 203-946-7669 (203-946-SNOW).
