NEW HAVEN FOURTH OF JULY FIREWORKS POSTPONED 24 HOURS
(7/1/2014) New Haven Ė New Haven Parks, Recreation, and Trees Director Rebecca Bombero today announced that New Havenís Independence Day celebration and fireworks, scheduled for Friday afternoon and evening, have been postponed until the same time on Saturday.
The postponement is in response to a weather forecast predicting an 80% chance of rain on Friday, but clear skies throughout Saturday. Importantly, the postponement of the Cityís festivities will not affect any of the recreational or cultural offerings available. The music, food, climbing wall, and other activities slated to take place at Wilbur Cross High School will begin at 6:00 p.m. Saturday.
The fireworks can be seen from Wilbur Cross High School at 9:15 p.m., and shuttles will run from the parking area at Farnam Drive and Davis Street in Hamden to bring spectators to the East Rock Summit.
In addition to the activities previously scheduled for July Fourth, Saturdayís activities include a celebration of the historic Fort Wooster on New Havenís East Shore from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.; adding historical reenactments and additional cultural offerings to the holiday weekend.
