Mayor taps new Chief of Staff and Community Services Administrator

MAYOR DESTEFANO ANNOUNCES NEW APPOINTMENTS FOR CHIEF OF STAFF AND COMMUNITY SERVICES ADMINISTRATOR
New Haven: Mayor DeStefano is announcing today that his Chief if Staff, Karen Dubois Walton, and Community Services Administrato, Sheila Allen-Bell, are leaving their posts to take new positions at the Housing Authority of New Haven.
Sean Matteson will replace Karen DuBois Walton, effective Dec. 26th. Matteson currently works as the Political Director for UNITE HERE. He also served as Field Director for the DeStefano gubernatorial campaign. “I am excited about this new position and the opportunity to work with Mayor DeStefano and his team,” said Matteson. “I look forward to serving the people of New Haven and helping the City become the best place to work, live, and raise a family.”
Kica Matos will begin as Community Services Administrator effective January 16th. Ms. Matos is currently Executive Director of Junta for Progressive Action, New Haven’s oldest Latino, community based organization. She is also a clinical visiting lecturer in law at Yale Law School. For most of her adult life, she has devoted herself to advocacy in the area of human rights and civil rights, working in non-profit organizations including Amnesty International and the NAACP Legal Defense Fund. In 2005 she was the recipient of the New Haven Register Person of the Year award.

“Both these individuals will do wonderful work for the people on New Haven,” said DeStefano. “They have spent their careers fighting for working families and fighting for civil rights and now they bring that same passion to City Hall.”
