The Property Division has responsibility for the City's acquisition and disposition of real estate and related activities, including relocation, demolition, leasing and marketing of property. This includes all acquisitions and dispositions of real estate for school construction, disposition of sliver lots to adjacent property owners, creation of site control for community development and housing rehabilitation and such other purposes which are in the best interest of the City's residents. The Division was created to establish a consistent process by which real estate value and use are maximized. The City aggressively acquires and disposes of property to remove blight from the urban landscape. It is an active participant in the real estate market and continually observes what is purchased and sold in the City. The Division works closely with the other LCI divisions and provides services to business, non-profits, community groups and other City departments (including the Board of Education, Traffic and Parking, the Fire Department and Business Development) to assist in the development of property throughout the City.
