Welcome to the New Haven Free Public Library

Transition Center for 50+

Are you 50 + years old and considering retirement, civic engagement, re-careering, networking with peers, volunteering? All of these life options and more will help shape the content and style of the library's new " Transition Center ". Housed in the Main Branch on Elm Street , the center promises to be an inviting space encouraging conversation, sharing ideas, and pursuing relevant topics of the 50 + generation. Materials and books will highlight current information on re-careering, job opportunities, travel, grandparenting, health and social issues. New technologies will be integrated into the area with training in computers and information literacy available.

The " Transition Center ", which is the product of a $20,000 State Library Grant, will not be built in a vacuum. Along with recognizing the importance of creating programs and services that are accessible, culturally sensitive and connected to the larger community, the Center will be created by the very constituency it will serve. Several events will be planned as the Center takes shape. Watch this page and the library's event page to read more about what's happening!

For further information about the Transition Center contact: Kate Cosgrove 946-7001.
