Resources and Services

The Reading Center at the Main Library, and each branch library, has materials that promote literacy including:

  • Adult basic reading / writing books
  • An adult basic newspaper, News for You
  • Basic math books that cover problem solving, decimals, fractions, percents and algebra
  • English as a second language materials for students and tutor

Other literacy services include:

  • Computerized instruction programs
  • Read-along books with cassettes
  • Videos for ESL and GED preparation
  • Tutorial rooms for one-on-one instruction
  • Staff assistance / referrals
  • Ongoing programs for parents / families and individuals
  • Literacy librarian on staff
  • Library tours for adult learners and tutors in groups of 5 - 20
