New Haven Demographics

Census data for New Haven, including Census tract data, are available on the U.S. Census Web site at http://www.census.gov. The Connecticut State Library also provides Census data for 2000 and earlier years here. Tract-level data for New Haven's population and ethnicity are also available at the Main Library's Information Center.

DataHaven provides access to census data on 22 towns in the south central CT region, and allows users to create tables comparing data across indicators, towns & years.

In its Annual Report of Vital Statistics, 1998, New Haven's local Department of Health uses the 1990 Census population of New Haven to calculate its rates. The State uses a population estimate (123,189) much closer to the 2000 Census population of New Haven.
