City of New Haven Democracy School

This fall, the Office of the Mayor will be coordinating New Haven’s ninth- Democracy School – a six session course aimed at introducing residents to their local government.  Residents will get to talk to key administrators and decision-makers in city government and local politics.  City officials will talk about their work and lead question and answer sessions aimed at fostering open lines of communication, enabling participants to take full advantage of city resources, and empowering residents to become community leaders.

Democracy School meets every Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at interesting locations across the City for six weeks.  The Fall 2010 Session will begin Thursday, September 2nd and end Thursday, October 7.

Interested? Download an application and session information here

Or contact our Democracy School coordinator, Elizabeth Bentonat (203) 946-8200 or via e-mail at ebenton@newhavenct.net.   She can answer your questions and get you a paper application.  Spots are limited, so apply soon.

We will now accept applications year-round but we will set deadlines for each dem school session accordingly. We will post the deadlines as we get closer to the start of a new session.
