(6/1/2010) MATCH POINT: NEW HAVEN FOOD & WINE FESTIVAL RETURNS AUGUST 25

On Sale Beginning June 1, Tickets to Third Annual New Haven Food & Wine Festival Include Access to Culinary Event and Pilot Pen Tennis at Yale

NEW HAVEN, Conn., June 2, 2010 - Following its debut in August 2008, the highly-anticipated third annual New Haven Food & Wine Festival returns on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 from 5 - 7:30pm. This year’s event features twenty restaurants, providing visitors with even more opportunities to experience the city’s award-winning and internationally-diverse cuisine from the convenience of one location, 2010 Pilot Pen Tennis at Yale.

Participating restaurants will serve up a taste of their most famed menu items, while guests will also have the chance to meet one of America’s most renowned chefs, cookbook authors and cooking teachers, Jacques Pepin. New Haven Food & Wine Festival tickets are available beginning Tuesday, June 1, 2010 and can be purchased by visiting www.pilotpentennis.com or calling 1-888-99-PILOT. Tickets are priced at $125 and include access to the culinary event and a box seat at the Pilot Pen Tennis Tournament at Yale - an Olympus US Open Series event on the ATP World Tour and Sony Ericsson WTA Tour.

"Now in its third year, the New Haven Food & Wine Festival has gained a fan following of its own,” said Anne Worcester, tournament director of Pilot Pen Tennis. “During the culminating men’s and women’s event leading into the US Open, tennis fans and foodies alike can indulge in some of the most inventive cuisine in the Northeast - and all under one roof.”

While New Haven has long been lauded for its academic reputation, the city is also receiving accolades as a growing “foodie” destination. Ranging from diners and bistros to gourmet cafes and award-winning restaurants, there are more than 130 dining establishments in New Haven. Participating in the festival this year are some of New Haven’s finest establishments including 116 Crown (Small Plates), Barcelona (Spanish), Basta Trattoria (Southern Italian), Bentara (Spicy Malaysian), Bespoke (Modern American), Caseus (Fromagerie/Bistro), Central Steakhouse (Steak/Seafood), Claire’s Corner Copia (Vegetarian), Foster’s (Modern American), Geronimo (Southwestern), Ibiza (Creative Spanish), John Davenport’s (Contemporary Continental), Kitchen Zinc (Artisan Pizza), Miso (Contemporary Japanese), Pacifico (Nuevo Latino), L’Orcio (Authentic Italian), Thali (Regional Indian), Thali Too (Indian/Vegetarian Cuisine), Union League Café (Parisian Brasserie) and Zinc (Modern American).

“New Haven is truly a foodie destination,” world-renowned chef and cookbook author, Jacques Pepin, said. “Visitors this year will have an opportunity to sample the culinary creations of the region’s innovative chefs, who proudly call New Haven home. It’s the perfect time of year to enjoy great food and wine, wonderful company and, as an added perk, some of the best tennis in the world.”

In addition to the New Haven Food & Wine Festival, visitors can purchase tickets to two other “Special Access” off-court events at Pilot Pen Tennis . A Lux Bond & Green sponsored event, “Wine Tasting in Riedel Crystal” will take place on Tuesday, August 24 and feature a wine tasting and instructional workshop with a Riedel representative who will demonstrate the importance of the shape of a wine glass. The workshop will be followed by light hors d’oeuvres and an evening of tennis in the Courtside Club - an air-conditioned suite overlooking Stadium Court. Tickets are $150 and include the workshop, wine tasting, a Riedel Vinum Tasting Kit (four wine glasses retailing at $116.00), suite pass and hors d’oeuvres. A great event for the fashionista is the “Vineyard Vines Ladies Day Luncheon & Fashion Show” hosted by Island Time with jewelry provided by Lux Bond & Green on Thursday, August 26. Tickets are $105 and include lunch and a fashion show in a private hospitality area, a box seat to the afternoon matches, gift bags and door prizes.
