Yale startup joins New Haven incubator

A New Haven data management startup has become the newest tenant in an Elm City technology business incubator run by the state's technology investment arm.
Connecticut Innovations Inc. said HDB Newco Inc. occupies unspecified space in the recently expanded CTech@Science Park at Yale facility that CI manages.
Using technology licensed from Yale University, HDB Newco is developing an open source parallel database management system. The technology will be used by enterprises to extract critical analytical information from large databases, CI said.
Incubator tenants share facility amenities, as well as on-site accounting, legal and professional business services.
Last September, the CTech facility at 5 Science Park was doubled in size to 4,000 square feet to five high-tech tenants, with room at the time for another five.
The New Haven incubator, opened in October 2008, is a partnership between Rocky Hill-based CI, United Illuminating Co., the Economic Development Corp. of New Haven, Yale University and LaunchCapital.
The other two CTech incubators are on the University of Connecticut Health Center campus in Farmington and on the University of Bridgeport campus in Bridgeport.
