New Haven's Tweed Airport Had Best Year Since 2005

(1/20/2012) The Hartford Courant - Tweed New Haven Regional Airport had more people flying in and out last year than any year since 2005.

A total of 39,791 passengers departed Tweed on U.S. Airways Express flights last year, the second best year since 1999, the airport said.

Tweed serves connecting flights via Philadelphia, which is a hub for U.S. Airways' national and international flights.

The airport's traffic was an 11 percent increase last year over 2010, said airport manager Lori Hoffman-Soares. The flight departures last year were 24 percent stronger than the average of the past 12 years, Hoffman-Soares said.
