The Office of the Corporation Counsel serves as the chief legal advisor of and the attorney for the City and all City officers and departments in matters relating to their official duties.

The Office of the Corporation Counsel provides legal advice and counsel to all City departments, boards, commissions and City officers. It dedicates an attorney to every department in the City, and such attorneys serve as counsel to various departments. They not only provide legal advice, but are also responsible for handling any litigation and contract matters that relate to the assigned departments.
