    SAGA Support Services       

    Case management; information and referral to government sponsored /community-based resources; employment enhancement opportunities/education; provides transportation; and engagement, monitoring and reporting of clients' activities to meet compliance requirements of Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program* Employment and Training (SNAP E&T – *formerly known as food stamps)     

    Careers Publication/Outreach          

    Weekly publication now in its 13th year - Careers - contains employment/job postings along with relevant information for the job seeker.  This employment - community - resources tool has become widely utilized throughout New Haven's social service delivery network.  Monthly mailings - on average 800 piece mailing of information sent to prospective clients regarding SNAP E&T activities:  education/skills training; structured job search skills training; work experience/community service.  Informational flyers on beneficial programs are included in mailings.

    Transportation Collaborative           

    Establishes relationships with area clinics rendering beneficial therapies to SAGA clients who do not qualify for DSS medical transportation.  Program places transportation resources at point of service.

    Work Experience/ Community Service       
    SAGA Support Services seeks to establish work experience situations at non-profit or municipal agencies to aid SAGA SNAP recipients develop/maintain positive work skills, cultivate current sources of reference while maintaining compliance with federal requirements.

    New Haven Economic Security Coalition - VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance)

    SAGA Support Services is a partner agency in the NHESC which markets and operates VITA tax clinics throughout New Haven during income tax season.  Clinics assist low-income residents with tax preparation and electronic filing of returns while making certain available tax credits are captured.  NHESC also provides links to financial literacy opportunities to clinic customers.
