    SAGA Support

    The City of New Haven SAGA Support Services (SSS) works with single adults receiving State Administered General Assistance (SAGA) who are without income. Services determined on a case by case basis.

    SAGA Support Services       

    Individual assessments; resolution planning; Case management; information and referral to government sponsored /community-based resources; employment enhancement opportunities/education; provides transportation - bus fare, gasoline vouchers ; access to DMV services; identification, license. Justice of Peace services provided free of charge for SAGA clients.

    Careers Publication/Outreach

    Weekly publication now in its 17th year - Careers - contains employment/job postings along with relevant information for the job seeker. This employment - community - resources tool has become widely utilized throughout New Haven's social service delivery network. Monthly mailings to prospective clients alerting of program services and including informational flyers on beneficial programs throughout New Haven.

    Transportation Collaborative

    Establishes relationships with area service providers and with clinics rendering beneficial therapies to SAGA clients while pending DSS medical transportation. Program places transportation resources at the point of service.

    New Haven Economic Security Coalition - VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance)

    SAGA Support Services is a partner agency in the NESC which markets and operates VITA tax clinics throughout New Haven during income tax season. Clinics assist low-income residents with tax preparation and electronic filing of returns while making certain available tax credits are captured. NHESC also provides links to financial literacy opportunities to clinic customers.
