    With the arrival of March, it’s a relief to know spring is almost here! In just a few weeks longer days and warmer temperatures will be the norm: Daylight Savings Time begins March 12 (be sure to set clocks forward!), and March 20 is the first day of spring, after which there will once again be more daylight than darkness.

    March has notable religious holidays this year, too. Ash Wednesday is March 1, signaling the start of Lent for Christians, and Purim begins at sundown on March 11 – the start of that joyous holiday for those of the Jewish faith.

    March 8 is International Women’s Day; in fact, all of March is Women’s History Month. The first International Women's Day was in 1911, to coincide with the women’s suffrage movement. Each year this occasion helps ...
