    As we move through the second half of April there are several significant occasions for us to acknowledge. One is Yom HaShoah, also known as Holocaust Remembrance Day, the annual, solemn, and global observance in memory of the nearly six million Jews killed by Nazis in World War II.

    Another is Earth Day, April 22 – the 44th anniversary of the first Earth Day, widely associated with the beginning of modern conservation measures and the environmental movement. In New Haven we’ll celebrate with the third in a series of Walk(s) With the Mayor – this time starting from the Edgewood Park playground.

    The very next day is New Haven’s 377th birthday! We’ve planned a City Hall celebration and tree planting ceremony beginning at 3:00 p.m. – we hope you’ll attend.
