New Haven Free Public Library Foundation
The New Haven Free Public Library Foundation is the 501 (c)(3) fundraising arm of the library. Reconstituted in the Spring of 2004, the Foundation has an active Board of Directors gleaned from Greater New Haven and committed to raising funds for enhancing the collections and programs of New Haven Public Library.
The Foundation ran a successful Capital Campaign that raised $500,000 for the Courtland Seymour Wilson Branch Library, New Haven's first 21st Century Library branch located at 303 Washington Avenue in the Hill neighborhood. The Campaign for New Haven's 21st Century Library also raised an additional $500,000. to upgrade and enhance services throughout New Haven's library system. Along with an Annual Appeal, the Foundation holds special events to raise dollars including the library's signature event since 1999 - Mardi Gras on Fat Tuesday.
